Dr Herbert Polesky has been a leader in defining the role of transfusion medicine for both medicine and industry. He helped develop the criteria for fundamentals of training programs that physicians would require to become experts in transfusion medicine and paternity testing. He also is one of a small group of pioneers who led the ongoing quest for safer blood products for recipients.
